IPTV stands for "Internet Protocol Television": TV delivered over your internet connection instead of an aerial or satellite dish. So if you're wondering "what is IPTV", the short answer is: a way to watch TV channels, movies and series using your fibre or broadband connection.
How does IPTV work?
The video signal is compressed (e.g. H.264/H.265), sent from a server and played on your device by an app called an IPTV player (such as IPTV Smarters Pro, IPTV Extreme or Smart IPTV). To access content you add an M3U playlist or your Xtream Codes login (server, username, password) to the player.
The player is only the "reader": the channels come from the subscription. That's why you need two things: a player app + a subscription/playlist.
